Disadvantages of E learning

With college and institutions shut due to the pandemic, eLearning is turning into a new norm for the sake of continuity of education. Institutions are embracing eLearning like never before. In addition, online learning is not only ensuring uninterrupted learning but is also making it effective for the students. It is helping the students learn better, more interactively, and in an excited manner. This also turns out to be beneficial for the teachers as they can focus on teaching rather than attendance, course management, student engagement, curation of resources and so on.   

eLearning has many benefits; one can think of in these times. Its tools and features are so comprehensive that students are bound to learn more effectively with eLearning. Moreover, learning could be synchronous or even self-paced with online learning. It has great user-friendly interphase enabling people with the basic knowledge of technology to run it without thinking twice.   

What Are the Disadvantages of eLearning?

As we know a coin has two sides to it. So does technology. As eLearning is associated with technology, it comes with some disadvantages too. The one being increased screen time. In earlier times, growing minds had more exposure to playgrounds, physical classrooms, and so on. eLearning which can only take place through the use of technological devices increases the screen time for children. So, cautious use of devices is recommended. Young children and students should only be allowed to use technological devices while studying online. Even youngsters should be encouraged to have social interactions in the real world rather than online whenever the situations are in favor.   

Another rather limitation of eLearning is that in rural parts of India, an electricity supply is unpredictable, let alone internet connectivity. In such situations, it becomes difficult for learners from rural areas to access eLearning without any hassles.   

However, we are a progressing country and will surely find our way to win over all of these limitations.
